The Essence of Bhagavad Gita - Page 10

Bhagavad Gita

Bhagavad Gita continued:

Stanza 121:

Those who follow three Vedic traditions namely Rigveda, Yajurveda and Saamaveda, and follow the duties envisaged in them with the intention of reaching the heaven, such people through those good deeds reach the divine planes like heaven and enjoy the fruits of their action.

Stanza 122:

After enjoying the fruits of their good deeds (for fulfilling the vedic duties) they return to the worldly plane. Thus, those who perform all the duties enjoined in the three vedas with desires will take birth again and again. (Lord Krishna makes it clear here that performing the duties envisaged in three vedas does not lead to salvation.)

Stanza 123:

Who ever attains YOGA (through Meditation. The word Yoga should not be mistaken for the practise of Yogasanas and Pranayama) will transcend (go beyond) even the good Karma (Punya) that can be attained by the practise of Vedas, Yagnas, Homas and Charity etc.. and will reach the eternal state i.e. Salvation (in the Supreme Being. Salvation is attainable only by neutralising both good and bad karma).

Stanza 124:

Those who constantly meditate on ME with dedication at all possible time, I will take care of their well being as well as their spiritual evolution (Yoga).

Stanza 125:

Those who worship Gods, they reach them. Those who worship their fore fathers, they reach them. Those who worship five elements of nature, they reach them. But those who worship ME they reach ME and they will not have rebirth.

Stanza 126:

Whoever worships ME in whatever form, I respond to them in the same form. Knowing this, mankind follows various means to reach ME.

Stanza 127:

Whatever the devotees offer ME like leaves, flowers, fruits or even water with devotion (from the bottom of their hearts), I accept them and grace them.

Stanza 128:

Dedicate all your actions to ME with the renunciant state of mind. You will be freed from the bondage of the fruits of your actions (karma) and you will reach ME.

Stanza 129 & 130:

Even if the greatest sinner meditates on ME with devotion and dedication, he too will gradually become a good person, and moves towards righteousness and derive eternal peace. Arjuna, know the truth that MY devotees will never be destroyed nor damned.

Stanza 131:

Therefore, dedicate yourself to ME with total devotion. You will reach ME without fail.

Stanza 132:

I am the essence of all the aspects of creation (living and non living) and also the beginning, middle and the end of it. I am also the soul of all the living beings and their beginning, middle and the end.

Stanza 133:

Arjuna asked : Krishna how to constantly remember you ?. What are your expressed forms in the creation by which I can recognize you and worship ?

(Here Arjuna is looking for such aspects of nature where the Supreme Being is more expressed in the creation than in the normal aspects of creation so that he can revere HIM even through them. It is just like waves are there in the sea but high tidal waves are more expressed than the normal waves).

Stanza 134:

Lord Krishna said “I am the beginning of the creation, its middle and the end. Among the knowledges I am the Spiritual knowledge ”.

Stanza 135:

I am the “OOM” among sounds. Among the Mountains I am the Himalayas. Among the spiritual practises I am the JAPA (Meditation).

See part 3 – Natural Meditation.

Stanza 136:

Among the divine sages I am Naaradha. Among trees I am the peepul (Ashwatha) tree.

Stanza 137:

Among the Asuras I am Prahlada. Time among measures and Garuda among birds (a golden brown coloured eagle with wide white stripe all around its neck, and it is considered as the vehicle of Lord Vishnu).

Stanza 138:

Among the senses I am the mind. I am the energy in the matter and the consciousness in the living Beings .
